In all cases the transfer of credits depends on performance in
the Higher National Diploma studied at the CEE and the specific University
policy.
The course is a broad-based one and aims to provide an overview
of business and the environment in which it operates. Students
will become familiar with some of the skills necessary for effective
business operation, and will undertake practical business tasks.
In the core subjects, the emphasis is on the application of knowledge,
skills and understanding; use of conventions in the field of study;
use of analytical skills and selection and organisation of information.
In the specialist subjects the emphasis is on: application and
evaluation of contrasting ideas, principles, theories and practices;
greater specialism in the field of study; and an increasing independence
in systematic enquiry and analysis.
After the HND
On successful completion of the HND at the Centre for Executive
Education (CEE):
- the majority of students choose to transfer to Business degree
programmes. The HND at CEE has been specifically structured
to facilitate entry to the top-up year of the bachelors programs
in Business Administration and / or Information Technology.
The students can study in Universities in Dubai or in London
UK or by Distance Learning anywhere.
- the other lot of students use the HND as an end qualification
and use it to enter the professional world where they are welcomed
as the employers are too aware of the vocational and work related
value of the Edexcel qualifications.
The first choice is for students who have a strong HND profile and who can, through their personal statement and reference, provide evidence of the appropriate level of motivation and commitment. Each year, a significant number of students internationally do progress from the HND onto the Business and Management degree but please note that progression is not automatic and is dependent on the factors outlined above and the number of places available.
